Western Bloodstock launched its 25th anniversary in style with a rousing $74,441 average in Session I of the 2024 NCHA Futurity 2-Year-Old Sales, where 17 horses sold for over $100,000, and seven for over $200,000, including high-seller Jackson Rising for $600,000.

In training with and consigned by Wes Ashlock, Agent for Dawn C. Chapman, Jackson Rising is a daughter of NCHA Futurity Open Reserve Champion Badboonarising, whose first foals, including 18 money earners, are 3-years-olds of 2024. Jackson Rising’s dam, Little Jackson Cat LTE $320,417, by High Brow Cat, was an NCHA Open World Champion and is the dam of 6 money earners.

Jackson Rising was purchased by Christopher Campbell/Diamond Land & Cattle LLC, Shreveport, LA.

Hopeinforabackwardsk, a Metallic Cat red roan filly in training with and consigned by Gregg Garvie, Agent for S Diamond Ranch, brought Session I’s second highest price, $550,000 from Tom Bailey, Iron Rose Ranch, Carbondale, CO.

Sired by NCHA Horse of the Year Metallic Cat, a leading sire of 2,190 money earners, Hopeinforabackwardsk is out of the Catty Hawk’s daughter Cattys Hope LTE $281,030, half-sister to 11 money earners of over $500,000.

Maiden The USA, consigned by Todd Nelson and in training with Richard Jordan, sold for $415,000 to Gary Fields, Weatherford, TX. The bay filly is sired by Reyzin The Cash, sire of 273 money earners of nearly $8 million. Her third dam, Neverey LTE $146,593, by Dual Rey, produced 11 money earners and is a full sister to Never Reylinquish by Dual Rey.

Talkin Smak, consigned by Rogillo Farms and in training with Zach Rodgers, sold for $265,000 to James Shoppa, Westlake, TX. A daughter of NCHA Horse of the Year Smooth Talkin Style, sire of earners of over $7 million, Talkin Smak is a half-sister to Mazel Tov $118,418, out of Mizpah Cat LTE $153,360. Her second dam, Miss Ella Rey LTE $378,668, has produced earners of over $1.8 million, including NCHA Futurity Open Champion Stevie Rey Von LTE $420,903, a current leading sire of cutting horses.
